PR Brighton PR London PR Sussex RSVPR is born...01.04.2009After a year of anticipation, Stephanie St James has finally surrendered to the harsh encouragement from her very valued supporters. At the beginning of 2008, Stephanie started to receive many requests to head up her own PR company. Stephanie was flattered and honoured. However, her personal life allowed no such major move. Ironically, as businesses started to collapse at the end of 2008 and news reels revealed that this country had fallen victim to a serious economic decline, Stephanie, so typical of her character, decided now was perfect! As her personal circumstances permitted such a change, she started the ball rolling in February 2009 and by April 1st this year everything was in place and RSVPR was born. Stephanie has finished building her trusted and loyal team and together they prepare to serve businesses in Sussex, London and Europe. As the big picture illustrates a very slow recovery in business, it only spells out the greater need for PR, if any business out there is to survive and grow even stronger than ever.
PR Brighton PR London PR Sussex RSVPR tees off in a different direction.....21.04.2009With the team’s many links to the sporting industry, it is no surprise that RSVPR is expected to target those audiences and it is! Whilst Stephanie and her daughter were on holiday in Europe, they found their hotel situated in the middle of over 4000 acres of a golfer’s Mecca. As the only females on site, it was probably quite likely that they would be engaged in conversations. Dramatic debates about the world’s best new courses and highly visible opinions about the PGA’s varied references to golf resorts became the bar entertainment, most nights. Stephanie exhausted her supply of business cards and returned to the offices of RSVPR to find her inbox swamped with enquiries from golfers who are now happily convinced that RSVPR is the absolute oracle when it comes to finding the golfer’s paradise.

PR Brighton PR London PR Sussex Twenty Thousand Pounds of Fatboy Slim...15.06.2009Last Saturday, during SAMFest day, The Sussex Academy of Music welcomed the fuss and attention being paid to the original artwork that celebrates the exceptional musical talent of Fatboy Slim. The private collection of art, valued in excess of £22,000 was kindly donated by world famous artist Julie-Anne Gilburt, especially for this event. The collection is expected to remain at the academy for at least a further two weeks. SAMFest was held on the riverbank of the River Adur in Sussex, in glorious sunshine with an estimated two thousand people in attendance throughout the day. Separate stages welcomed well-known artists from the world of popular music, including a very special performance on the Roland Stage by Pete Brown, songwriter for 60’s super group Cream. The day continued with other great names and culminated with an exceptional live performance from the Decade All-Stars that opened up a dance floor for everyone from local councillors to the amazing Human Rhythm Machine Theseus Gerard, original member of Stomp. SAMFest was then, a very happy day for all and in particular, one lucky guest, who bought a £1 raffle ticket and won a shiny, new Hutchins Electric Guitar and Amplifier! Originating from under the uninhabited Blue Mountains and the Langjokull glacier. Totally uncontaminated and fed directly to a green hydro-energy powered bottling plant. Fountain of Youth is the water with one of the lowest ever recorded TDS (total dissolvable solids) and will be untouched by contaminants when it arrives in the UK carrying a 0 rated carbon footprint!! The founder, wishing to share the Icelanders’ find with the rest of the world, has already received a Ghandi Humanitarian Award for his charitable work and will donate to global water charities.
Launched on World Water Day, Fountain of Youth has already received a phenominal welcome by thousands of visitors at the ISLANDUS launch pad at this year's Food & Drink Expo at the NEC Birmingham. The wonderment shared by all those who sampled the water was based on taste alone but the astonishing facts that are responsible for it's name are ready to prove to the beauty industry why its remarkably high PH9 value will become an anti-oxidant to slow down the aging process. The unparalleled purity of this water will help to detox the body of harmful chemicals and bacteria, boost the immune system and within a month, increase energy levels and achieve improvement in skin and hair. The cost of this water, delivered from Reykjavik in Iceland directly to your door in the UK is comparative to other bottled water. If ordered at www.icelandfountainofyouth profits from the sales will be donated to benefit those global regions suffering from unsafe drinking water.

The international charity that promotes anti-violence and is represented by the 'knotted gun' has signed up high profile football stars, whose country is taking part, to design their own gun statue that will adorn the Cool Britannia venue in Capetown. Hosting the event at the Ivy was South Africa's captain, Aaron Mokoena who spoke of his dedication to the campaign and showed off his own flamboyant 'gun' statue. Proving that every business has a second chance to survive is the event's highly prominent speaker, Gertald Ratner. After describing the famous Ratner Jeweller's merchandise as 'crap' , he became a national laughing stock and lost an empire but he's in Brighton to inspire the delegates with his own astonishing story about a second chance for empire success. HARD ROCK CALLING17.08.2010The under-celebrated talents of modest Brighton artist, Jan Irvine, shot to the front of the London stage at this year's Hard Rock Calling event. Jan, well known for her unique talent to speed-draw the moving body, was chosen by The Hard Rock Cafe organization to perform her skills at this year's music concert in Hyde Park. Over the 3 day event, which attracted over 140,000 music lovers, Jan worked tirelessly in the soaring heat to capture the performers on stage. Hard Rock Calling had a tremendous line-up this year which gave Jan the opportunity to work up close and personal to such iconic personalities as Stevie Wonder, Paul McCartney, James Morrison, Jamiriquai and many more. Jan said “It was amazing to see these people in the flesh and whose music has been such a big part of my life. It was a privilege to draw them and I just hope I have done them justice.”
The drawings, which were being auctioned to raise funds for the Nordoff-Robbins Music charity, caused quite a stir as the stars themselves started bidding for each others. The delightful Bill Wyman, who was simply lovely to everyone, was the first to bid on a drawing of himself with Micki Free, the Grammy winning Native American Indian who literally rocks the U.S. with his legendary music. James Morrison said he just had to have the drawing of Stevie for himself and insisted on placing the winning bid. A total of over 20 Jan Irvine drawings are expected to raise many thousands of pounds for this fantastic charity.
What now? In addition to the commissions she now has from those performers who didn’t quite bid quick enough for their own portraits, Jan Irvine faces a very heavy workload leading up to her next major assignment as one of the few carefully selected artists at the 2012 Olympics. The Sussex Writers Awards is a unique competition with a unique first prize and is a 1st for Sussex. The competition has revealed that the county has some of the richest sources of writing talent. It is a chance for every budding author in Sussex to discover if they have what it takes to write a bestseller.... and to start with, writers only need 2000 words! Celebrity judges include international bestsellers PETER JAMES, LOUISE RENNISON and KATE MOSSE. The head of the judging panel has stressed that the judges are looking for potential and insists that even an unfinished novel can win the coveted first prize. The final winner of the competition, as the holder of the first ever Sussex Writers Awards Trophy, will be awarded a contract with a top London literary agent which has been described as the Real Deal. By the time the agents have the winning manuscript in their hands, they really will be ready to do the real deal, it's virtually impossible to find an open door into the industry these days - this is a real VIP ticket. This is a jewel of a competition in the literary world that involves the best in the business, top industry leaders and a practically 'unheard of' first prize. This unique initiative has unleashed some amazing literary talent and although the judges have now short listed the favourite 18, the Head of the Judging Panel has stressed that all entrants must not stop writing. The competition continues over Christmas with the top 18 writers preparing further material for the next stage of the selection process. Judges will announce the top 6 writers in early January and Peter James, Louise Rennison and Kate Mosse will announce the overall winner at an awards ceremony in Brighton, later in the year. She spared no punches when she told a regional magazine that she believed there would be no hope for the city, as far as trade explansion was concerned, unless businesses woke up and got serious! She explained how London businesses were far more likely to reach their objectives because of their corporate view and mature opinion regarding business growth and success. Stephanie described in detail how, in the past decade, she felt that typical Brighton businesses were far too relaxed about success and that they were guilty of relying on the city's popular tourist industry. When asked what she thought the next 5 years would hold for the city, she said "not much" local businesses must respond to the PR objective and sustain a corporate attitude that could then attract large corporations. She said she wanted to see commerce and finance contributing to the city's prominence and went on to insist that businesses cannot afford to depend on the city's current strengths in the arts to earn them a right to be valued as one of Europe's busiest urban centres. "They must strive to grow". PR in Brighton PR in Sussex PR in London ITS GETTING HOT IN HERE....22.01.2011Things are really hotting up as the unique Sussex Writers Awards announces its final 6! Following a gruelling few weeks, the judging panel have finally announced the lucky 6 finalists of the 2010 Sussex Writers Awards! This competition will find a winner and that winner will go on to be championed by a top London agency. However, The Head of the Judging Panel has stressed again that all the writers in the competition must keep writing, must keep being inspired and must not give up. The task of selecting the 6 finalists from the shortlisted 18 was a very difficult one indeed. RSVPR chose to make that selection by using the fairest possible way, one that is used by world literary competitions and is based on point scoring; one that cannot be based on just one or two opinions. In 2010, the charity raised £6,000 in funding to support 110 people with the costs of childcare, course fees and travel costs whilst they were looking for work or on a training course. As a result, 8 of these people went into work, 6 went on to study at college, 4 started volunteering and 1 took up a work experience placement. Without this additional support, most would not have had the chance to get closer to their goal of living fulfilled and independent lives. BHEAA, The Brighton & Hove Estate Agents Association, of which Phil is the immediate past president, gave a generous contribution of £500 to the charity which will ensure that people on low incomes continue to receive the help they need with the additional costs of course fees, childcare and travel costs in 2011. The Brighton Centre welcomed a sell-out audience for the opening night of X Factor 2011. Both the stars of the stage and the audience were treated to the newly refurbished, plush interiors of a venue this City should be proud of. The night was a chance to escape reality and enjoy a delectable feast of first class entertainment. Opening the show, just as it should be, was the world class Cher. Delivering a dazzling show, cute and retro both as a singer and a dancer, she is a supremely gifted performer and continued to wow the audience with her every appearance. Each of the finalists took their turn on this magnificent stage that supported thrilling set pieces and stunning sound and lights, it was difficult to believe this venue sits outside London! If you think you’ve seen it on TV and that’s as good as it gets, think again. Simon’s show offered something distinct and more intimate than the living room experience ever could! Each artist appeared up close and personal to their audience on a set that was artfully designed and unconcerned with conventional entertainment. This production is dynamically choreographed, brilliantly produced and is simply irresistible. After Cher, how could it go on? But it did and it continued to thrill the audience with performances from purple clad Paige, the amazingly polished and professional Katie Waissel who appeared remarkably like a Broadway star, the enchanting Rebecca Fergusson who seemed to stun the audience with her sheer beauty and just when you thought the auditorium was calm and collected, there appeared to be what resembled a standing ovation at the beginning of a performance; On the first beat of the first note and before One Direction sprang from holes in the floor, their fans, who were close enough to engage in conversation, were exactly those paying punters that every performer wants to see; adoring and loyal and literally breathing in every single word those boys sang with all their heart! Those talented boys conveyed a raw cuteness that could defy description. The audience were still not completely satisfied though until Matt Cardle appeared. Everybody loves a winner and this night was no exception. Amongst fireworks and excitement, Matt’s slight frame was revealed against another spectacular backdrop and a strength in his voice that did not disappoint. His first song was good but his finale was a feat of soaring virtuosity. His voice became warmer and warmer throughout the numbers until finally, when he performed remarkable vocal contortions in Roberta Flack’s ‘The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face’ his audience erupted. It was breathtaking but also revealed the vulnerability of the singer which is one of the main reasons why so many people have become loyal fans. He engaged superbly with the audience who seemed to be seated ‘in the comfort of their own home’ just inches from the stage. Before the evening came to an end and fans were forced to leave behind the magic, the X Factor finalists performed together, the charity single Heroes, leaving behind cherishable images and making certain the night would be labelled A Triumph! THE WINNER OF THE SUSSEX WRITERS AWARDS 2011 DAZZLES ON STAGE12.05.2011Following a long eight months of hard work, waiting and hoping, the Winner of the 2011 Sussex Writers Awards was finally announced on 4th May, at a glittering ceremony, in Brighton.
Of the first to enjoy the use of the recently refurbished Empress Suite at Brighton's Grand Hotel, were over 200 guests - all eager to learn who the winner was. During a musical Drinks Reception, excited fans chatted to our celebrity judges and posed for photographs with their heroes.
Guests then sat down to a lavish three course meal which was lovingly prepared by the Grand's Executive Chef, Alan White who, during the course of the evening, earned himself much praise.
Frances Duncan, the Director of the benefiting charity; The Whitehawk Inn, was welcomed onto the stage by TV's Marcella Whittingdale. Frances gave a short speech and then introduced the audience to a short film which illustrated the wonderful work they do.
The spotlight then fell on Head of the Judging Panel, John Parsons as he welcomed guests to enjoy the second half of the evening which was dedicated to the Awards. He spoke fondly of the work that had been produced by the three finalists who had not quite made the top 3 places and gave the audience a taste of their novels. Rebecca Seymour from Horsham, Matthew Seal from Brighton and Sarah Palmer from Worthing had all produced some very fine works of art and each received copies of the latest novels from the three judges and a Waterstones gift card.
Peter James, Kate Mosse and Louise Rennison who had found it very difficult to choose a winner then introduced the final three. First up on stage was the Editor of Sussex Life who had agreed to accept a prize on behalf of Graham Chainey from Brighton. Graham, who was sadly unwell and unable to attend on the evening and who had entered 'The Free Spirits' was joint Runner Up and received a Mac Notebook worth around £1,000!
Roars of celebration could be heard from the winner's table as Louise Rennison announced the second joint Runner Up; Maggie Womersley from Steyning. Maggie entered 'Eddie Bain's House of Horrors' and also won a Mac Notebook worth around £1,000.
Peter James then took great delight in announcing the winner, who of course knew by this time that she had won, as Kerry Evans from St Leonards on Sea near Hastings. Kerry looked absolutely stunning in a glittering cocktail dress and an enormous smile! She gave, what some people described as, the best speech of the night. Kerry, who submitted her novel 116WPM was genuinely surprised by the announcement but remained calm and collected as she thanked the organizers of the event and her nearest and dearest who had fully supported her throughout the past 8 months.
Kerry's novel is about a secretary at a Canary Wharf investment bank and the unlikely protagonist of an insider trading scandal. Despite seeing no way out of her dysfunctional family in a rundown East End tower block, she dreams of escaping to travel the world and embarks on a mission to make enough money on the stock market to do just that.
Kerry was presented with a Winner's Certificate, a beautiful glass trophy and a Literary Agreement with Bell Lomax and Moreton.
Dazzling photographs of Kerry and the event may be seen in the June edition of Sussex Life. There has already been a buzz of local press trying to get hold of Kerry's story. The event, in pictures may be seen in other local glossies during June.
Everyone who attended the night remarked on the evening's success and how they had thoroughly enjoyed such a spectacular evening. The event which welcomed other local established authors, dignitaries from all over Sussex including The Lord Lieutenant and the High Sherriff and company bosses, had been incredible value for money for ticket buyers and will be a night to remember for a very long time.

PR Sussex PR London PR Brighton ITS NO SECRET ANY MORE!28.12.2011Brighton’s best loved millionaire, Mike Holland, recently starred in Channel 4’s Secret Millionaire.
On Sunday December 4th, thousands of viewers watched how Mike, who travelled to Grimsby to see how some of the less fortunate survived, was able to make changes they never thought possible. It clearly wasn’t just about the ‘fortune’ that Mike dished out but also his undeniable passion and care for those who needed it most.
In fact Mike only agreed to take part in the series if he could truly be himself and speak from his heart. He refused to say the line ‘I’m a millionaire’! He genuinely wanted to make a difference and give his money to where he felt it was most needed.
Proving the point that Mike is all about sincerity, he has already started work to enable him to continue to help some of those charities he met. |
